Library Storytime Programs

San Antonio public libraries have a variety of different storytime and activities designed for preschoolers and other young children. These terrific programs encourage educational and recreational growth in a loving, nurturing atmosphere.

Storytime Program Descriptions

Preschool Storytime (30 minutes)
This program is for 3-5 year olds and includes picture books, songs and fingerplays. Occasionally basic arts and crafts or games are also offered. Parents and caregivers are encouraged to participate in Preschool Storytime.

Storytime (30 minutes)
This program is for both toddlers (ages 1 1/2-3) and preschoolers (ages 3-5). Storytime features classic stories, familiar songs and popular poems. Parents and caregivers are not normally involved in Storytime.

Family Fun (varies)
This program is designed for those parents who have children of varying ages. Family Fun features books and simple crafts. The librarian will tailor the program to the age ranges of the children in attention. Parents, caregivers and whole families are encouraged to participate.

Toddler Time (20 minutes)
If you have younger children (ages 1 1/2-3), this program is designed for them. It involves simple picture books and short songs. Parents and caregivers are asked to sit with their children.

Library Lapsit (20 minutes)
This program is designed to introduce infants (ages 0-18 months) to the world of sounds and stories. Parents and caregivers attend Library Lapsit with their infants. Call the branch for details because some locations require registration for this program.
