Backyard Theatre
The Backyard Theatre at Steven Stoli Playhouse in San Antonio is a fun destination for kids of all ages, but especially preschoolers.
Throughout the year, the playhouse puts on seasonal performances that include shows based on popular nursery rhymes and fairy tales, such as Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs or Humpty Dumpty and the Queen of Hearts. Additionally, the Backyard Theatre also presents special holiday performances.
The best thing about Backyard Theatre is that the shows invite your preschoolers and other young children to participate in the action. Whether it's learning summer safety from the Three Bears or singing along with Seven Dwarfs, there is plenty of fun interaction between the actors and the children.
Birthday Parties
The playhouse will set up a special birthday celebration for your preschooler at the theatre. Party packages include group tickets to one of the performance, birthday cake, party favors and more. The greatest part is the actors will bring your child on stage and have the whole audience sing "Happy Birthday" to him or her. It's really a treat!
The Backyard Theatre only has three showtimes per week for non-holiday shows - Wednesday and Thursday at 10:00am and Saturday at 11:00am. It would be nice if they added some afternoon showtimes or perhaps an early evening performance. Because of the limited showtimes, reservations are recommended.
Summer Camps
There are not many disadvantages about the theatre. If you are interested in sending your preschooler to one of their summer camps or acting classes, it can be a little costly however.
